Aims:
1) Learning Aims for the Students: to revise numbers and introductions, to practise the articles a and an, personal pronouns and possessive adjectives.
2) Teaching Aims: to explain using of articles a and an, to introduce possessive adjectives, to develop writing and speaking skills.
Stage 1:Warm up (5 min)
Stage 2: Explanation of using articles (12 min)Stage 3: Controlled Written Practise (10 min)
Stage 4: Introducing personal pronouns and possessive adjectives (9 min)
Stage 5: Controlled written and oral practise on above (9 min)
Stage 6: Homework.
Methods:
Stage 1: Revision of numbers and the way of introducing themselves
Step 1: Pass the paper slips by passing them to individual Ss.
Step 2: Say the numbers at random and ask Ss to come to the board according to your instructions.
Step 3: Ask them to reorder themselves from 0 to 10 by queuing up in the correct order.
Step 4: Invite everyone to count aloud from 0 to 10.The Ss at the board raise their paper slips accordingly.
Step 5: Ask Ss to act out similar dialogues as in the example in ex.4 on p.13.
Stage 2: The way of using articles.
Step 1: Point to a book, say, the write: a book. The Ss repeat after you.
Step 2: Explain that we use A before words which start with a consonant sound whereas we use an before words which start with a vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u).
Step 3: Ask Ss to open books on p.12.Refer the Ss to the Grammar box.
Step 4: Go through the pictures and present the words. Ask Ss to copy the cable in their notebooks.
Stage 3: Practising the use of articles.
Step 1: Ask Ss to do ex.1 on p.12
Step 2: Feedback- check the task
Stage 4: Lead the Ss to understand personal pronouns and possessive adjectives
Step 1: Point to yourself, say and write: I . Point to a S, say and write, you. Do the same for the rest of the personal pronouns.
Step 2: Ask Ss to repeat chorally.
Step 3: Show your book, say and write: This is my book. Underline the possessive adjective.
Step 4:Explain that the possessive adjectives are used before nouns and present the rest of the possessive adjectives. The Ss repeat after you.
Stage 5: Practisnig personal pronouns and possessive adjectives
Step 1: Ask Ss to open books on p.12. Focus the Ss’s attention on the Grammar box and Ask them to read it.
Step 2: Explain the task (ex.2,p.12) to the ss. Read the example.
Step 3: Feedback- check the Ss’s answers.
Stage 6: Homework. Ask Ss to do Ex.3,4 p.5 in Workbook.
