Welcome to the London Tests of English Level A1. The theme of this test is Going to the
Doctor. The test lasts one hour and fifteen minutes. There are five tasks. Tasks One and
Two are listening. You must listen to the tape and write your answers in this booklet.

1. Task One: Alex Helps His Sister (16 marks)
Alex is helping his sister, Lucy. Listen to the conversation, read the questions and look at
the pictures. For each question, put a cross ( ) in the box below the correct picture, as
in the example.
You will hear the conversation twice. Do as much as you can the first time and finish your
work the second time.

2. Task Two: Phoning the Doctor (16 marks)
The next day Alex’s foot is still hurting. He phones the doctor for an appointment. Listen
to the phone conversation between Alex and the doctor’s receptionist.
Look at the sentences about the conversation. If the sentence about the conversation is
true, put a cross ( ) in the True Box. If it is false, put a cross ( ) in the False Box. The
first one is an example.
